Avoid Toxic Personalities
Have you ever had a moment when your were happily
skipping through a day...then BAM!!!
You get blindsided by someone who knocks the happy wind out of you???
Some people can be toxic to our mental outlook, self esteem and our lives.
Here are just a few to avoid...
1. Manipulative Mary - These individuals can figure out what your "buttons" are,
and push them to get what they want. They can eat away at your belief system and self esteem.
2. Narcissistic Nancy - The world revolves around them, they are solely focused on their needs,
leaving you often disappointed and unfulfilled. They are energy zappers.
3. Debbie Downers - These people can't appreciate the positive in life.
They take the joy out of everything.
4. Judgmental Jims - Things you see as cute and quirky, they see as strange and unattractive. Spending time with Jim can convert you into a judgmental person as well.
5. Dream Killing Keiths - Everytime you have an idea, these people tell you it can't be done.
They try to pull you down and eat away at your self esteem.
They are stuck in what is instead of what could be.
6. Insincere Isaac - These people build relationships on superficial criteria. This breeds shallow, meaningless relationships. They are not true friends and would rather see you fail.
7. Disrespectful Dannys - These people will say or do anything at the most inappropriate times.
They are just grown up bullies. They have no sense of boundaries and don't respect your feelings.
8. - Never Enough Nellies - These people can never have enough to make them happy.
They take others for granted, and you will spend so much time trying to please them,
that you will end up losing yourself.
Is there anyone left?? If you can, avoid spending much time with these
personality types and you will be much happier!!

How to Save on....Food
The average household spends $3,744 a year on groceries.
For a large family, this number could easily triple...
here are some simple tips that could help...
- Track your food budget monthly - analyze it to see where you may could make some cuts.
- Make a list and stick to it - People who avoid impulsive shopping can save up to 23%
- Cut your meat - Substitute 14 oz for a pound of meat, most recipes you can't tell the difference
- Buy more fruits and vegetables - Research shows that families who add more produce to
their diets shrink their waistlines and budgets.
- Befriend the managers - The folks in charge of the produce, meat, dairy and seafood departments
can tell you what time of day food is marked down so you can get the best deals.

An Inconvenient Truth
Those prepackaged foods will cost you!!!
Take a minute or two to wash your own greens and cut your own fruit.
Could save you up to $408 a year!!
Examples:
Sliced green apples - $5.79 per pound....Green apples - $1.29 per pound
Bag of prewashed romaine lettuce - $3.25....Head of romaine - $1.99
WOW...get out the knifes!!!

Winter Olympics
Opening Ceremonies
Friday, Feb 12
The Olympic Flag - Contains five interconnected rings symbolizing the 5 significant continents,
they are interconnected to symbolize the friendship to be
gained from these international competitions.
The rings colors were chosen because at least one of them appeared
on the flag of every country in the world.
The flag was first flown during the 1920 Olympic Games.
The Olympic Flame - The flame is a practice continued from the ancient Olympic Games.
The flame represents purity and the pursuit of perfection.
Each year the torch is lit in a traditional ceremony at the ancient site of Olympia.
It is then passed on to begin the Olympic Torch relay.
This year the relay began in British Columbia on October 30.
The Olympic Motto - Adopted in 1921: Citius, Altius, Fortius (Swifter, Higher, Stronger)

Feel Naturally Happier
Follow these simple tips to be naturally happy
- Open your heart - give back to the community & others by volunteering
- Shake up your routine - do something different
- Give thanks first - acknowledgment of kindness generates the desire to continue
- Put yourself in another's shoes - If someone acts badly or disappoints you, think what
may be causing that reaction before makingjudgments
- Let your grudges go - forgiveness can be a challenge, but it's essential for true emotional generosity.
Harboring grudges can be bad for your health

Attitude
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than money,
than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding
the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude...
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES!!!

Office Etiquette
Are you annoying your co-workers??
Here are 4 of the most annoying habits at work
1. Putting PDA's Before People - Most people find texting and emailing in meeting offensive
2. Eating Smelly Food - Strong onions, popcorn...especially if you burn it.
3. Holding a Meeting in the Hallway - Others are working and holding meetings withing earshot is distracting
4. Write in Text Speak - Although most people these days understand LOL,
CUL8R & OMG. It is unprofessional in an office setting.
Are You Guilty???

Still Having Trouble Managing Your Time?
Here are 7 Tips to help you out
- Start with what's important - That way you are sure to begin making strides on whats important.
- Write it Down, Then Move On - Don't keep switching gears because you think of
something that needs doing, jot yourself a note and continue with the task at hand.
- Don't over schedule - leave some open time so you can catch up
- Be Predictable - When your day has a regular pattern it becomes easier to focus.

need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life."
~Greg Anderson~

Thought for the Week...
Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past,
negative thoughts or things you cannot control.
Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Watch what you drink...
Diet drinks do not help you lose weight...on the contrary,
a study by the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio
showed that for every diet drink consumed the chance of becoming
overweight or obese rose by 37%. The thought is that artificial
sweeteners heighten the cravings for sugary items.
Stick to Water!!

Speaking of Water
How do you know your water is safe??
1. Check on line to see how your area is doing...click here for detail info
2. Get a municipal water report or consumer confidence report from the city. In these reports, you will see what harmful toxins and chemical exist in your water and how much.
3.Use a filter for your water at home
4. Use cold water for drinking and cooking
5. Take your water with you...often outdoor public water systems are not filtered.

Dispose of that "Disposal" Water Bottle
Look at the recycling symbol on the bottom of the bottle.
Disposable water bottles usually have a #1 in the center of the symbol,
and are only recommended for one time use.
The temptation to refill it can be overwhelming, but resist that urge.
Instead, look for a reusable option that you can purchase.
The plastic is designed to breakdown after time and the plastic can "leach" into your water.
YUK!!!

Gotta Short Fuse???
Here are some tips to keep it in check...
- Stay calm, don't give in to the anger...it can take over
- Let the sun go down on your anger...often things are not so bad the next morning
- Accept blame - Don't automatically "snap" at other, look to yourself first
- Find a place of "refuge" - even in your mind to dwell on serene thoughts
- Laugh - Humor can help almost every issue
And my favorite...
THROW IT IN THE RIVER!!!

A Thanksgiving Thought for our Friends
Thanksgiving Day brings to mind
the blessings in our lives
that usually go unnoticed:
a home that surrounds us
with comfort and protection;
delicious food, for pleasure

and freedom to worship our God.
Most of all we are thankful
for our family and friends,
those treasured people
who make our lives extra special.
You are part of that cherished group.
On Thanksgiving, (and every day)
we appreciate you.
Happy Thanksgiving!

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.

Nothing can be done without hope or confidence."
~Helen Keller~
Snoozing....or not??
Are you sleep deprived?
Did you know this can compromise your health?
5 Hours or less - 50% more likely to develop high blood pressure
6 Hours or less - can impair your memory, reaction time & general cognition
7 Hours or less - more likely to catch a cold or gain weight
More than 8 Hours - There is such a thing as too much sleep...this can disrupt your blood sugar
which makes type 2 diabetes a concern.

Fluffing
Maybe your pillow isn't helping you sleep
One too large or small can tweak spinal alignment, causing pain and disrupting sleep.
Side Sleeper - pillow should have height equal to the distance
between the base of your neck and the top of your shoulder.
Back Sleeper - Pillow should lift your head in line with your spine.
Stomach Sleeper - This over twists your neck and back, train yourself to move onto your side -
bend one knee to the side and wedge a pillow underneath it.

Toxic Products
(You probably have in your home)
1. Air Fresheners - Only mask odors, do not eliminate and
spew out tiny chemicals that are easily inhaled.
2. Drain, oven & toilet bowl cleaners - these are the most
